I received my clinical training at Antioch New England Graduate School, earning a master's degree in counseling psychology. I am a professional counselor, licensed in the state of Connecticut (LPC) and am also a nationally certified counselor (NCC). Believing our minds, bodies, and spirits are intricately connected, I have sought out additional training in body oriented therapies. I believe in a holistic approach, and while a large part of psychotherapy may be verbal I often include alternative methods with clients that might include breathing and relaxation techniques, guided imagery and visualizations, bio-energetics, and use of sand tray and/or art therapies. I also welcome and encourage clients to explore their spiritual beliefs and have found that questioning and seeking to better understand transpersonal matters can often help individuals feel supported in their work in therapy and in their lives.
I have been providing psychotherapy, psycho-education and personal growth seminars for individuals, couples and groups in private practice since 1995. From 2003-2006 I was also on staff at Alcohol and Drug Recovery Centers, Inc, (ADRC), a private non-profit corporation located in Hartford, Connecticut which provides high quality substance abuse treatment and supportive services. At ADRC I designed and implemented a group curriculum dealing with spiritual issues in recovery as well as providing individual counseling sessions for clients and staff. Over the years I have worked with clients dealing with issues that include:
