At Manchester Community College

9:00am-12:00pm

Cost: $19.00

Has your child suddenly turned into a secretive, eye rolling, IMing, telephone talking stranger? Welcome to adolescence, the time when kids' number one task is individuation from their family of origin. So how do we, as parents, cope with our task of keeping our kids safe while allowing them the appropriate freedom to discover who they are becoming? How do we know when our teens are displaying normal, healthy adolescent behavior and when it's moved into the more serious realm that spells real trouble for them. This seminar, a combination of experiential exercises, education and support, will cover topics including pop culture's influence on teen sexuality, substance use and abuse, and physical appearance issues that often lead to eating disorders. You'll learn negotiation strategies that really work with a wide array of everyday struggles that often erupt during these years.
